The climate crisis is coming to a head and the room for maneuver is narrowing: this makes it all the more important to develop holistic solutions and take cross-system action. This is where the Sustainability Research and Transfer Centre (ForTraNN) at the Sustainability Campus Neuburg comes in, by gaining and discussing new research findings in cooperation with stakeholders from politics, business, and civil society.
Members of the Bundestag Andreas Mehltretter and Bernhard Daldrup came to Neuburg for this purpose. Their visit focussed on interdisciplinary research into the municipal heating transition. Professor Uwe Holzhammer, Tanja Mast, and Anna-Lisa Klages presented some findings from current projects to the visitors from Berlin. They also presented research approaches and project outlines, which met with great interest from those present and led to a lively, professional exchange.
Professor Jana Bochert, Dean of the Faculty of Sustainable Infrastructure, then presented the plans for the further expansion of the Sustainability Campus Neuburg and the range of courses on offer. Fabian Meyer, Site Development Officer, then gave the delegation a tour of the campus site and of the modular building, which will be inaugurated in July 2023.
The Sustainability Research and Transfer Centre Neuburg (ForTraNN) bundles sustainability activities in the region and brings together companies, local authorities, scientists, students, and active citizens in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary sustainability network. Through research with the help of real-world laboratories, practical forums, and innovative citizen participation formats, ForTraNN facilitates a holistic knowledge process to jointly achieve practicable research results for the major social challenges.
