In the Smart City area, the communication of rad users with each other and with smart infrastructure is being tested. They are made aware of each other via an optical warning system, which also recognises and classifies non-networked road users via LiDAR sensors. In this method of environment detection, eye-safe laser pulses are emitted into the environment. These pulses are reflected by the objects in the enviroment and return to the sensor. based on this, a detailed environment representation is created in the form of a point cloud in real time. This accurate and privacy-compliant representation provides machines and computers with data that can be analysed using software. In addition, it will be evaluated how road users react to the new notifications and whether the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and scooter riders at the roundabout is improved as a result.
The focus on Smart City is primarily realised by ZERO GmbH, a Technology-Startup founded in August 2020 with a focus on connectivity, mobilitiy, digitalisation and UI/UX. ZERO relies on 5G as the key technology for innovative connectivity modules that enable efficient and secure networking and communication of all road users with stationary and mobile transport infrastructure.
