Helfenzrieder Prize

The aim of the Ingolstadt Award is to strengthen its continuous technological change, to interest local scientists and scientists from German-speaking countries in the location and to promote the development of prototypes on the basis of research results.

The aim is to prepare start-ups from scientific research results in Ingolstadt. The prize thus bridges the gap between conventional study and research programmes on the one hand and business start-up programmes on the other and represents a building block in the process of research, development and start-up support at the Ingolstadt location.

Professor Johann Helfenzrieder was professor of mathematics, astronomy and experimental physics at the first Bavarian State University in Ingolstadt from 1770 to 1781. He wrote various papers on mathematics, machine science and technology, researched the effects of prisms and discovered, among other things, a comet.
