Welcome Professor Dr Helmer

We are pleased to welcome another colleague, Professor Dr Helmer, who will join us on 1 January 2022. He is a specialist in the field of "Automated Driving & Vehicle Safety" and will in future teach at the THI in the subject area of "Integral Vehicle Safety and Vehicle Technology".

Professor Dr Helmer studied mechanical engineering with a specialisation in ergonomics and vehicle technology at the Technical University of Munich. He then completed his doctorate in Munich as part of a cooperation between the Technical University of Berlin and the BMW Group, working on the evaluation of active safety in road traffic. During his doctorate, he also conducted research as an official guest at the National Crash Analysis Centre at George Washington University in Washington D.C..

Before his appointment at THI, he worked as a specialist and expert in various functions at the BMW Group in Munich and has been teaching on the topics of driver assistance systems and vehicle safety at Munich University of Applied Sciences and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore since 2016.

We are looking forward to working with Professor Dr Helmer and would like to extend a warm welcome to him!
